  • WHAT IS ASTRONOMY CLUB?

    The YHS Astronomy Club is a group of people interested in the study, enjoyment and sharing of astronomy.

    Anyone interested is welcome to attend meetings on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month after school at 3:45 until 4:45 in building 5 room 5-11. No dues. No telescope needed. Astronomy Club member outreach includes school star gazes during basketball games, astronomy/space related lab activities, and other events to encourage education and enjoyment of astronomy!

    YHS Astronomy Club’s purpose is for the encouragement of astronomy and space science through our meetings and through observing with fellow astronomy enthusiasts YHS Astronomy Club’s goals and objectives are:

    • To increase public awareness with our annual Star Party and by sponsoring observing sessions for the school.
    • To support and participate in the state of Florida Astronaut Challenge High School Competition
    • To support and participate in academic, athletic, and community projects that help the campus and District achieve respective goals and objectives
