• AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination and is an elective course designed to prepare students for admission to a four-year university after graduation from high school.  AVID is for students who want to go to college and are willing to work hard to get there.

As a part of AVID, students learn how to keep their schoolwork organized and how to take good notes. During the AVID class, students prepare for college entrance exams like PSAT, ACT, and SAT.  Students have tutorial groups twice a week with tutors who help them with subjects that they may be having difficulty with. AVID students also visit college campuses and area businesses to learn more about the choices available after high school. Community service projects and “Family Nights” are also a part of the AVID program.

This program requires the completion of an application packet as well as an interview process.
