Congratulations to our 2018 Teacher of the Year finalists!

In recent surprise classroom visits, Superintendent Dr. Kathy Burns announced the five finalists for the 2018-2019 Nassau County Teacher of the Year.  During the first cycle of the selection process for our district winner, each school’s Teacher of the Year completed a resume, written essay questions, and an interview.  Each finalist will complete additional essay questions and be video-recorded teaching a lesson in his or her classroom.  The winner will be announced at the district gala sponsored by the Nassau County Education Foundation on January 12th at the Ritz Carlton Amelia Island.

Asa Jernigan
Fernandina Beach Middle School / Band 1, Band 2, Band 3, and Chorus
Grades 6-8

Rebecca (“Becky”) Ray
Callahan Elementary School / 1st Grade

Heather Rowan
Callahan Intermediate School / 4th Grade

Haley Vonnoh
Fernandina Beach High School / Algebra 2 Honors, Geometry & Geometry Honors;
Grades 9-12
