The Nassau County School District—ranked the #1 school district in the state of Florida—welcomed Florida Commissioner of Education Anastasios Kamoutsas on Friday, August 22, 2025

During his visit, Commissioner Kamoutsas met with district leadership before continuing to Southside Elementary School, where he observed a reading lesson in Mrs. Abby Sala’s classroom and later joined students in an art class.

He then traveled to Fernandina Beach Middle School, where he participated in presenting the MTSS Recognized Schools Award from the Florida Department of Education to Principal Dr. Anna Crawford. While on campus, the Commissioner also visited multiple classrooms, engaging directly with teachers and students.

The Nassau County School District extends its gratitude to Commissioner Kamoutsas for his visit and for recognizing the commitment and excellence of our educators and students.
