The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office and the Fernandina Beach Police Department hosted unforgettable Shop With a Cop events, with the holiday spirit on full display.

Students were all smiles as they paired up with local law enforcement officers for shopping, laughter, and holiday joy. Thank you to Sheriff Leeper, Undersheriff Hooper, Nassau County Sheriff’s Office Shop With a Cop Coordinator Lawanna Ware, Fernandina Beach Police Department Chief of Police Tambasco, Fernandina Beach Police Department Shop With a Cop Coordinator Barbara Rathmell, Nassau County School District Chief of Police Valentine, and the dedicated district and school administrators and employees who were on hand to make these nights extra special.

The events also featured several crowd favorites who made special appearances. Tank, the beloved Nassau County Sheriff’s Office police dog, stole hearts and maybe a cookie or two, especially since one of the nights celebrated his birthday. Santa and Mrs. Claus brought North Pole magic, greeting students with warm hugs and photo opportunities, and elf magic was brought to the Fernandina Walmart by one of the store’s employees.

These events served as a meaningful reminder of what community looks like, with people coming together to support, celebrate, and create memories that extend well beyond the holiday season.

To everyone who helped make these events a success, thank you. The joy on our students’ faces said it all.

Together, these events reflected the spirit of kindness, community, and a festive start to the holiday season.
