Sarah Twardy, a U.S. History teacher at Fernandina Beach High School, was announced as the Nassau County School District Teacher of the Year during the Nassau Education Foundation’s annual Teacher of the Year Gala.

Mrs. Twardy was selected from among outstanding educators across the district and recognized for her dedication to students, instructional excellence, and leadership within her school community. She has spent 19 years in education and is known for engaging students in U.S. History through meaningful, inquiry-based instruction that emphasizes civic responsibility and critical thinking.

As the district’s Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Twardy will represent Nassau County School District as she advances to compete in the Florida Teacher of the Year program alongside educators from districts across the state.
