Nassau County School District Names Rachel Norfleet as Director of Career Technical Education

After 30 years of dedicated service in education, Tammy Johnson will retire at the end of this school year. Throughout her career, Ms. Johnson served Nassau County School District in numerous roles, including ESE teacher, dean, school counselor, assistant principal, principal, and Director of Career Technical Education.

Nassau County School District is pleased to announce that Mrs. Rachel Norfleet, current assistant principal at Yulee High School, has been selected to serve as the new Director of Career and Technical Education. With more than 25 years of dedicated service in education, Mrs. Norfleet brings extensive experience and proven leadership to this role. She began her career with the district in 2001 and has served in a variety of impactful roles, including teacher, school counselor, and assistant principal.

Mrs. Norfleet holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from University of North Florida, a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Counseling and Psychology from Troy State University, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from American College of Education. Her professional background reflects a strong commitment to student success and educational excellence.

Mrs. Norfleet is passionate about expanding Career and Technical Education opportunities within Nassau County. She believes CTE programs play a critical role in preparing students for success by providing practical skills, real-world experiences, and industry-recognized certifications. These programs support students entering the workforce after graduation while also strengthening college readiness by providing meaningful, hands-on learning experiences that connect academics to future careers.
