Nassau County Middle Schools Rank #1 in Florida for Math, ELA and Science

All five Nassau County schools serving middle school students earned an A rating, highlighting excellence across traditional, combined and virtual learning environments.

Nassau County, Fla. – Nassau County's middle school students are among the highest-performing in Florida. According to the Florida Department of Education's 2026 accountability results, Nassau County earned the #1 statewide ranking in grades 6-8 Math, the #1 statewide ranking in grades 6-8 English Language Arts, and a #1 statewide ranking in eighth-grade Science.

The district also ranked #2 in Florida in Civics and #1 in Algebra among students in eighth grade and below. Every Nassau County seventh-grade student who took the Algebra 1 End-of-Course Assessment passed.

These outstanding results were reflected across every school serving middle school students. Callahan Middle School, Fernandina Beach Middle School, Hilliard Middle-Senior High School, Nassau Virtual School and Yulee Middle School all earned A school grades, demonstrating excellence across a variety of learning environments.

  • Achieved a 99% pass rate on the eighth-grade Algebra 1 End-of-Course Assessment

Nassau Virtual School

  • Earned an A school grade for the second consecutive year

  • Achieved 100% proficiency on the Biology and Civics End-of-Course Assessments

Yulee Middle School

  • The only Nassau County middle school to earn more than 700 school grade points

  • 100% of seventh-grade students taking Algebra 1 passed the End-of-Course Assessment

  • Earned 717 school grade points, the district's highest middle school totals
