The Nassau County School District is excited to announce Dr. Coleman as the District Medical Director.
Dr. Jeremy Coleman is a board-certified family medicine and sports medicine physician and serves as Medical Director for Nassau County School District. A Nassau County native, Dr. Coleman has dedicated his career to expanding access to quality healthcare and advancing the health and well-being of the communities he serves.
Dr. Coleman is an Associate Professor at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville and has held several physician leadership roles within UF Health, including Medical Director of UF Health Family Medicine clinics in Amelia Island and Wildlight, Florida, and St. Marys, Georgia; Director of Primary Care Sports Medicine; and Faculty Senator at the University of Florida.
A recognized leader in sports medicine and community health, Dr. Coleman was instrumental in establishing and expanding a comprehensive athletic training program for Nassau County Schools. He recognized the importance of having qualified healthcare professionals available to student-athletes at the point of injury or medical emergency. His efforts helped establish a coordinated model of sports medicine that connects students with physician expertise, injury prevention, emergency care, and appropriate medical follow-up—supporting student-athletes throughout the continuum of care.
Dr. Coleman’s clinical experience spans diverse patient populations and healthcare settings. For five years, he provided physician coverage for the Nassau County Jail, caring for individuals with a broad range of medical needs. His approach to medicine is grounded in a simple principle: every person deserves access to high-quality healthcare.
That commitment extends to his work with Nassau County’s youth. As Medical Director for the school district, Dr. Coleman provides medical oversight and support for the district’s school nursing program and works collaboratively with school nurses, district leadership, families, and community stakeholders to promote the health, safety, and well-being of students.
Dr. Coleman earned his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College and his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his family medicine residency at LSU and a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Alabama.
A strong advocate for the quality of education and instruction within Nassau County School District, Dr. Coleman is also a proud parent of four daughters who attend schools in the district. This personal connection, combined with his professional experience, informs his commitment to building upon the district’s strong foundation and ensuring that every student has access to thoughtful, evidence-based healthcare and the support needed to thrive.
Dr. Coleman’s career reflects a longstanding commitment to medicine, education, leadership, and service—with a particular focus on ensuring that the highest standards of healthcare are available to the communities and students he is privileged to serve.
