No. This is not a new tax. It is a renewal of the existing one-mill operating millage that Nassau County property owners are already paying. A “YES” vote would continue the existing one-mill operating millage for four years without increasing the millage rate.

The Millage Referendum is a ballot renewal that allows local voters to invest directly in the daily operations of Nassau County schools. Because basic funding from the state legislature is inadequate to cover standard operating expenses, local school districts face severe budget constraints. Renewing this existing voter-approved millage fills these critical financial gaps. By securing these local funds, we protect our classrooms from budget shortfalls, allowing the district to keep the focus entirely on student success, providing competitive teacher and staff pay, continuing to improve safety, art teachers in every elementary school, and supporting athletics district-wide.

Be in school. Be on time. All day. Every day.
Missing just 2 days each month can add up to about 10% of the school year. Help your child make every school day count by building strong attendance habits all year long.

When students are in class, on time and ready to learn, they have more opportunities to build skills, connect with teachers and classmates, and stay on track for success.
