Nassau County School District Celebrates Ribbon Cutting of New West Nassau High School Turf Field

Callahan, Fla. — On Friday, September 5, 2025, Nassau County School District proudly hosted the ribbon-cutting for the new turf field at West Nassau High School. This exciting milestone was made possible through the voter-approved One Mill, a funding initiative that continues to make a lasting impact across the district.

District leaders announced that Phase 1 of the Warrior Field Improvement Project—the installation of the new turf field—is complete. This modern surface represents an investment not only in student-athletes but in the entire community. It will provide Warrior athletes and the community with a safer, more durable field for football, soccer, band, physical education, and community events for years to come.

As part of the next phase of improvements, the press box and seating will be replaced and realigned with the field to create a fully modernized facility. This project represents the beginning of a multi-phase plan to invest in the athletic complex, and district leadership emphasized pride in taking this important first step for the Warrior community.

This project was funded by the Nassau County community through the One Mill. The One Mill supports schools in four key areas:

  • Employee Compensation: 70%

  • Safety: 12%

  • Arts: 9%

  • Athletics: 9%

Thanks to the continued support of Nassau County voters and the community, today’s students—and generations to come—will benefit from safe, innovative, and state-of-the-art school facilities.

In addition to the West Nassau turf field, other One Mill-funded athletic projects are already underway:

  • All four Nassau County high schools have already received weight room improvements.

  • Yulee High School received a new rubberized track.

  • Hilliard Middle-Senior High School and Fernandina Beach High School will both see significant field updates and improvements.
