Here is today's homecoming update:
The results of yesterday’s Country vs. Country club day were seniors received 4th, freshmen received 3rd, sophomores received 2nd, and the juniors came in 1st place.
The results of todays Baby vs. Baby Boomer day are the sophomores were in 4th place, juniors were in 3rd place, freshmen were in 2nd place, and the seniors won.
So, it’s shaping up to be a tight race for the Spirit Trophy. The sophomores are in last place now with 250 points, the freshmen are in 3rd place with 300 points, the juniors in 2nd place with 425 points, and the seniors have a slight lead with 475 points.
There is a lot of homecoming left to go. Tomorrow’s dress up day is Soccer Moms vs. Grill Dads and the Canned food drive contest continues.
Escapades is tomorrow night at 6:00. Come watch your class compete in skits and see who will be crowned the homecoming queen and then stick around for the bonfire immediately following that. Escapade tickets are available now on GoFan and are $6.
We’ll end the day on Friday with the pep rally featuring lip sync, followed immediately by the parade downtown. The game starts at 7 and the winner of the Spirit Trophy will be announced at halftime.
The Homecoming Dance is Saturday night from 7-9. Those tickets are also available now on Gofan for $10.
Flag football will be meeting tomorrow at 12:35 in the gym. All girls interested in playing Flag Football should plan on attending this meeting.
CNA will be hosting our first blood drive of the year on October 1. By donating blood you can save up to 3 lives, get free swag, snacks, and pizza.
Those interested in a career in Law Enforcement or as a Firefighter, please see Coach Purvis. We are accepting applications to go to the Police and Fire Station for on-site learning of what those careers are like. The first field trip is Oct. 14th, and it is reserved for the first 20 that bring back their completed application.
Today, we recognize Constitution Day, honoring the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787. This historic document is the foundation of our democracy and continues to shape our lives today.
The Framers began the Constitution with a short introduction called the Preamble. The Preamble sets the stage for the Constitution. It explains the purpose of the document, but it is not itself the law. Instead, it communicates the vision of the Framers and their hopes for our nation.
Here is what the Preamble says:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
In just 52 words, the Framers set out goals that still guide us today: justice, peace, protection, opportunity, and freedom for future generations.
