Important Updates Regarding the Hilliard Fires, Smoke Conditions, Transportation, and Attendance
The Nassau County School District continues to closely monitor smoke conditions and road accessibility related to the Conner-Nelson Road and Buford Bay #2 fires in Hilliard, Florida, including impacts to Conner-Nelson Road and Bay Road (CR 115).
As of this update, schools are scheduled to operate as normal on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Bus routes along Conner-Nelson Road and Bay Road (CR 115) may be modified. If these roads remain closed, bus service along this route will not be available.
Students who are absent due to fire-related conditions, including smoke, road closures, or other safety concerns, will have their absences excused. Upon their return, please provide a note to the school to document the absence.
