Friday, August 21 is National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day.
One conversation could save a life.
Fentanyl is one of the most dangerous drugs facing our communities today. It is often hidden in counterfeit pills or mixed into counterfeit prescription medications without a person's knowledge. As this powerful video explains, one mistake can have permanent consequences.
This National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day, we encourage every parent, caregiver, and student to take just a few minutes to watch this important message together and explore the free resources available for Nassau County families.
🎥 Watch the video: https://player.vimeo.com/video/925904443?h=12e0a90225
📚 Access the Family Resources on our website.
The Family Resources include:
• A Fentanyl Fact Sheet
• Parent Conversation Toolkit
• Student Online Learning Opportunity (earn 1.5 community service hours)
• Additional videos and educational resources
After watching the video, ask your child:
• What did you learn?
• Did anything surprise you?
• What would you do if someone offered you a pill that wasn't prescribed to you?
• Who are the trusted adults you can always talk to?
A few minutes of learning today could make a life-changing difference tomorrow.
Know the facts. Start the conversation. Protect your future.
Tomorrow, we will follow our Early Release Wednesday schedule as we come together for our pep rally to officially kick off the 2026–2027 school year! 🎉
Be sure to follow the adjusted bell schedule, arrive to each class on time, and come ready to show your Warrior spirit as we celebrate our students, fall sports, and the start of a great year!
One Tribe. One Vision. One West Nassau.

Today we officially launched the Warriors Leadership Academy Captain Cohort!
Student leaders representing programs across campus came together to begin a year-long journey of leadership development, relationship building, and culture creation. After thoughtful discussion and collaboration, our student-athlete leaders identified three core values that will guide the way they lead their teams and represent West Nassau:
⭐ Respectful
⭐ Integrity
⭐ Accountable
We believe leadership is a skill that can be learned, practiced, and strengthened. These students have accepted the challenge of leading with purpose, setting the standard for their teammates, and helping shape a positive culture across our campus.
The future of Warrior Athletics is bright because of leaders like these!

Warriors, we’re ready to kick off the 2026–2027 school year and celebrate our Warrior spirit! 🎉

The first few weeks of school are an exciting time, especially for our youngest students and first time bus riders. As drivers, schools, and families help students learn their routes, pickup and drop-off times may take a little longer than usual.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as everyone settles into a safe and successful routine.

To help us maintain a safe and secure campus, students may not be checked out over the phone. All student check-outs must be completed in person by a parent or guardian presenting a valid photo ID.
Thank you for your partnership in helping us keep our students safe. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we begin the 2026–2027 school year.
We will also review this procedure during orientation.
