Students from Mrs. King’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes at Yulee Middle School participated in a field trip to explore the CTE programs offered at Yulee High School.

During the visit, the middle school students toured several programs to gain insight into potential high school pathways. In Ms. Crosby’s Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, Yulee High students demonstrated their hands-on skills and guided the visiting students through basic practice activities. The experience helped YMS students understand the prerequisite skills and foundational knowledge needed to join the CNA program in their senior year.

Next, the students visited Ms. Raulerson’s agriculture program, where they learned about the Future Farmers of America (FFA) organization and observed ongoing student projects. YHS students showcased their work by demonstrating how they show chickens and rabbits in competitions, modeling their art projects, and explaining the process of judging poultry categories.

The final stop was Mr. Hart’s construction program. Here, students learned about ladder safety, including the importance of maintaining three points of contact—two hands and one foot, or two feet and one hand—at all times. Mr. Hart also shared examples of past and future class projects, such as display shelving and a classroom bathroom renovation.

After returning to Yulee Middle School, students reflected on what they learned and discussed ways to share their experiences with peers. This collaboration between the middle and high school CTE programs provided an engaging opportunity for students to explore future pathways within the district’s CTE offerings and sparked new ideas for integrating high school-level skills into their current learning experiences.
