CRIME SCENE IN THE AUDITORIUM!
Our 7th grade ELA detectives are on the case! Before diving into Edgar Allan Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart, students stepped into a chilling crime scene to gather clues, analyze evidence, and build theories. This immersive pre-reading activity sets the stage for deep literary exploration and critical thinking.
Skills in Action:

Inferencing: Drawing conclusions from textual and visual clues
Citing Textual Evidence: Supporting claims with specific details
Analyzing Character Motivation: Understanding psychological complexity
Collaborative Problem Solving: Working in teams to build theories
Close Reading: Interpreting symbolic and thematic elements
Argumentative Thinking: Forming and defending a claim
Engagement & Empathy: Stepping into the mind of a narrator.

A special FBMS thank you to Officer's Passante and Smith for guiding the team through an investigative process and explaining how good ELA skills transfer to all careers.
