HES August Art Moments Sponsored by the Millage:

Mrs. Adams shares, "My favorite part of Art class in August was seeing both familiar and new faces in the art room. I especially loved watching our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students experience the excitement and pride of writing their names in cursive for the very first time!"

During August, students explored Name Art projects tailored to their grade level while learning about the element of art known as line.
Kindergarten and 1st Grade students practiced writing their names on multiple artworks and added color and creativity using paint and painted handprints.
2nd Grade students wrote their names in print and then incorporated a variety of lines into their designs. This project helped reinforce their understanding of line as one of the elements of art and allowed them to practice drawing different types of lines.
3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade students wrote their names in cursive following a brief cursive-writing lesson, which compliments skills they are developing in their classrooms. They then enhanced their artwork by adding a variety of lines after learning about line as an important element of art and exploring different line types and techniques.

Reminder: Picture day is tomorrow August 17
We had an amazing first week as our halls were filled with families walking their student(s) to class each morning. Beginning Monday, students who do not ride a bus will begin their carline routine. If you would like to walk your student to the cafeteria door, you may do so between 7:00-7:25am. Please wait to cross the parking lot until a staff member has stopped traffic. After 7:25am, all students must be dropped off using the carline for the safety of everyone. Helpful tips for the carline: If you happen to be first in line for the morning, please do not block the service entrance. We will motion you forward at 7:00am to begin dropping off. As you enter the gate, please have your student gather everything they need to take to school. Encourage them for the day, say your goodbye for the day, and have them ready to get out when you arrive in the circle. This helps the flow of traffic. Students must exit the car on the right side for their safety and the safety of our staff. All parents/guardians, must stay in the vehicle for their safety as well. At 7:40am, the first bell rings. This means if you are inside the gate in the carline, your student will not be marked tardy as this gives you plenty of time to drop off. Please follow the carline all the way around and do not cut through the service entrance or staff parking lot. We will have plenty of extra people to help our students find their way to class. During the next couple of weeks, the line might be a little slower than usual as families adjust to this routine. It will get faster with time. We are thankful for our HES families and all the support you provide!
