🎉 SCIENCE IN ACTION! ✈️

Mrs. Russell’s 8th grade Science students are taking their learning to new heights with a hands-on paper airplane investigation!

Students are learning how scientists ask questions, make predictions, identify variables, collect data, conduct fair tests, and use evidence to draw conclusions. Through experimenting with different airplane sizes, shapes, and wing designs, they are discovering how these factors can affect flight distance—all while developing problem-solving, critical-thinking, collaboration, and data-analysis skills.

And we have a NEW RECORD! 🏆✈️

Sebastian’s paper airplane previously traveled an impressive 62 feet… but the next day, he broke his own record with an incredible 73 feet! 🎉👏

Way to go, Sebastian! We love seeing our students put the scientific process into action and challenge themselves to go even farther! 🔬📊✈️

Friday, August 21 is National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day.

One conversation could save a life.
Fentanyl is one of the most dangerous drugs facing our communities today. It is often hidden in counterfeit pills or mixed into counterfeit prescription medications without a person's knowledge. As this powerful video explains, one mistake can have permanent consequences.
This National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day, we encourage every parent, caregiver, and student to take just a few minutes to watch this important message together and explore the free resources available for Nassau County families.

🎥 Watch the video: https://player.vimeo.com/video/925904443?h=12e0a90225

📚 Access the Family Resources on our website.
The Family Resources include:
• A Fentanyl Fact Sheet
• Parent Conversation Toolkit
• Student Online Learning Opportunity (earn 1.5 community service hours)
• Additional videos and educational resources

After watching the video, ask your child:
• What did you learn?
• Did anything surprise you?
• What would you do if someone offered you a pill that wasn't prescribed to you?
• Who are the trusted adults you can always talk to?

A few minutes of learning today could make a life-changing difference tomorrow.
Know the facts. Start the conversation. Protect your future.

🏈❤️ What a Night for the Flashes! ❤️🏈

Friday evening was one to remember as we welcomed back our Hilliard Football Alumni for our Inaugural Alumni Kickoff Reunion! 🔴⚡️

We were so excited to see such a great turnout of former players, coaches, friends, and Flashes supporters coming together to reconnect, share memories, enjoy a great meal, and celebrate the tradition that makes Hilliard Football so special.

There’s something powerful about seeing generations of Flashes come together and realizing that once you wear the red and white, you’re always a Flash! ❤️🤍

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out, helped make the evening possible, and continues to support our football program and our student-athletes. Your support helps us build on the tradition and invest in the future of Hilliard Football. 🏈⚡️

🎉⚡ What a GREAT First Week for the Flashes! ⚡🎉

We’re off to an amazing start, and our Flashes are already showing us what it means to work together, think creatively, and be Responsible, Roped In & Respectful! ❤️🖤🤍

🔢 8th Grade Teamwork Challenge
Mrs. Dyal’s 8th grade class is working hard on teamwork and collaboration this year! Their first-day challenge had them stacking a pyramid using only strings tied to a rubber band—talk about teamwork, communication, and patience! 💪🏼🧠

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ 7th Grade Team Challenge
Our 7th graders jumped right into group participation and teamwork, racing to see which team could find as many numbers in order up to 100 as possible in just 2 minutes! ⏱️🔢 After identifying a pattern, they earned a second chance to race against the clock!

What a fun way to kick off the school year while building collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills! 👏🏼

❤️🖤🤍 Great job, Flashes! Here’s to an incredible year of learning, growing, and working together! ⚡

We appreciate your patience and understanding as everyone settles into a safe and successful routine.

Want to know where your child's bus is? Track it in real time using our bus tracking app: https://www.nassau.k12.fl.us/o/ncsd/page/bus-tracking-apps
