Wednesdays are quickly becoming our favorite day in the HMSHS Media Center! 📚✨
This week, Coach Walker and our ACCESS students joined Mrs. Vanzant for another fun and meaningful visit. Mrs. Vanzant shared a special lesson about how we are all different, unique, and wonderful in our own ways. To bring the lesson to life, students decorated cupcakes to show how each cupcake can be different and special—just like each one of us! 🧁💕
It was a sweet day on so many levels! Our students enjoyed a fun activity while celebrating the beauty of individuality and the things that make each of us unique.
A big thank you to Mrs. Vanzant and Coach Walker for creating these meaningful opportunities for our students to learn, connect, and make sweet memories together! ❤️⚡

Our HMSHS Flashes had a blast at last week’s Quarter 1 PBIS Celebration! ⚡ It was a great opportunity to celebrate students who worked hard during the first nine weeks to meet our expectations and finish the quarter strong! 🙌
To qualify for this special reward, students had to meet ALL of the following criteria:
✅ Maintain 90% or higher attendance
✅ Have no discipline referrals (ISS, OSS, or lunch detention)
✅ Have no more than three tardies
✅ Have no F’s
We are proud of our students who demonstrated responsibility, respect, and a commitment to success throughout the first quarter! These celebrations are a fun way to recognize positive choices, encourage continued growth, and remind our Flashes that doing the right thing pays off! 🎯👏

Our ACCESS students had a fantastic time in the media center with Mrs. Vanzant, Middle School Counselor today! 📚✨ From playing games to learning more about one another, it was a wonderful opportunity to build friendships, share laughs, and celebrate the things that make each of us unique.
Students shared their favorite foods, favorite people, and things they enjoy doing. They even showed off some fun dance moves when the roll of the dice called for it! 🎶🕺💃 You never know what talent might come out when the dice start rolling!
🌮 Question of the Day: If you could only eat ONE food for an entire week, what would it be?
TACOS won hands down! 🌮🙌 It looks like our Flashes have a serious love for tacos!

⚖️📜 History Comes to Life in 7th Grade U.S. History! 📜⚖️
Our seventh-grade students in Mr. Raulerson’s U.S. History class stepped back in time to 1692 to explore the infamous Salem Witch Trials through an engaging classroom mock trial!
Students took on the roles of judges, accusers, accused individuals, attorneys, witnesses, court clerks, and members of the community as they recreated this significant moment in American history. They examined evidence, listened to witness testimony, and questioned statements to evaluate the accusations brought before the court.
Through this hands-on learning experience, students gained a deeper understanding of how fear, suspicion, and prejudice can influence an entire community and how the lessons of the Salem Witch Trials continue to resonate today.
We love seeing our Flashes bring history to life through critical thinking, collaboration, and active participation! ⚡👏

🩹🩺 Learning Comes to Life in CNA! 🩺🩹
Our CNA students recently got hands-on with the integumentary system during a fun and engaging Fake Wounds Lab!
Students learned about the skin and its important role in protecting the body, then put their knowledge into action by creating realistic-looking fake wounds on their arms and hands. This interactive experience gave students an opportunity to explore wound care concepts while connecting classroom learning to real-world healthcare skills.
We love seeing our students learning by doing, getting creative, and preparing for their future in healthcare! ❤️

Our CNA students recently got hands-on with the integumentary system during a fun and engaging Fake Wounds Lab!
Students learned about the skin and its important role in protecting the body, then put their knowledge into action by creating realistic-looking fake wounds on their arms and hands. This interactive experience gave students an opportunity to explore wound care concepts while connecting classroom learning to real-world healthcare skills.
We love seeing our students learning by doing, getting creative, and preparing for their future in healthcare! ❤️

The HMSHS Art Club, alongside our talented art teacher, Mrs. Fortier, has been hard at work bringing a little Flashes spirit to the Northeast Florida Fair! 🎡✨
This year’s booth celebrates everything we love about a good old-fashioned Southern Friday night! 🌙🏈 From the Paul Whittenburg Field scoreboard and football field goal to an American flag, helmet, football, green grass, pumpkins, campfire, and even some delicious fair food—you’ll find it all artistically created and brought to life by our talented HMSHS art students! 🎃🔥🍿
We are so proud of the creativity, talent, and school spirit our students have poured into this project. A huge thank-you to Mrs. Fortier and our HMSHS Art Club for representing the Flashes and helping make this year’s fair booth one to remember!
