Storybook STEAM Night at Wildlight Elementary was a huge success!

Thank you to all of our students and families for coming out and making the evening so special. It was wonderful to see our Trailblazers learning, creating, and having fun together!

A big shoutout to our amazing STEAM Committee for organizing such a fantastic event. We are so grateful for all your hard work! We also appreciate School Board Memeber, Shannon Hogue, for volunteering her time and supporting our school community.

Nassau County School District schools and offices will be closed on Monday, February 16, 2026, in observance of Presidents' Day.

Wildlight Elementary School's 5th-grade students in Mrs. Ballard & Mrs. Butcher's art classes are making ceramic Tic-Tac-Toe boards! Students learned skills such as scoring & slipping to help them build their boards. Using tools & techniques, the students attached clay coils to a slab base. After being fired in the kiln, the students then chose different glazes to add color to their pieces. Boards were fired a second time to achieve a shiny, smooth topcoat. Students will also glaze shaped pieces for gameplay.

We are grateful for the mileage in giving us the chance to introduce and explore pottery at our elementary schools!

Wildlight Elementary School classes wrapped up their unit on electricity in the most hands-on way — by designing and building their very own circuits.

Students put their learning into action as they explored how energy flows, tested connections, troubleshot designs, and celebrated those “aha” moments when their circuits successfully lit up. The teamwork, problem-solving, and perseverance on display were truly impressive.
