Students at Fernandina Beach Middle School participated in a meaningful Holocaust Remembrance activity through the Butterfly Project. As part of this experience, students reflected on the millions of lives lost during the Holocaust and honored their memory through thoughtful writing and artistic expression.

Hilliard Middle-Senior High School students turned math into an adventure today. During their Area Gallery Walk, the room transformed into a lively, hands‑on exploration zone where everyone worked together to crack the “mysteries” of plane shapes, composite figures, and differences of shapes.

Students moved around the room, shared ideas, compared strategies, and helped one another make sense of challenging problems. Students were engaged, curious, and proud of their discoveries.

The Nassau County School District held its annual Spelling Bee on Tuesday, January 20th, sponsored by the Optimist Club. They have sponsored the Bee for the past 30+ years, and Jacque Osborne presented the winner with a monetary prize. The winner is Lacey Solomon, an 8th-grader at Faith Christian Academy, runner-up: Jane Dorsten, Wildlight Elementary. The Bee was 10 rounds, 65 words. The winning word was “chassis”. Congratulations to the new County Champion and all school winners!

Nassau Adult and Career Center Student Spotlight

Brooke is the first person to complete the 911 Telecommunications Dispatch Integrated Education and Training (IET) Program with the Nassau County School District. Brooke completed the 232-hour program under the instruction of Sharon Elliott, in partnership with the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office, which provided hands-on learning, ride-alongs, and real-world instruction.

Brooke is now focused on earning her GED and plans to participate in graduation in May. Her accomplishment represents an important milestone for the Adult Education IET program.
