🎨✨ Creativity is already taking shape at Callahan Elementary! ✨🎨

Our Little Warriors are kicking off the school year in the art room by learning routines, exploring new materials and techniques, and discovering that the art room is a place where creativity, curiosity, and taking creative risks are encouraged! 🖌️💡

Students are diving into the Elements of Art, beginning with Line, Shape, and Color. They’re putting their learning into action as they create unique works of art using a variety of mediums, including tempera sticks, tempera cakes, and crayons for those special details. 🌈🖍️

🎭🎨 It’s also National Arts in Education Week! This week, we celebrate the important role the arts play in helping students express themselves, think creatively, build confidence, and make meaningful connections to their learning. We are so proud to provide our Little Warriors with opportunities to imagine, create, explore, and shine! ✨

There are so many exciting projects beginning to take shape, and we can’t wait to see our warriors’ ideas, imaginations, and creativity come to life!

Here’s to a wonderful year filled with making, learning, exploring, and creating! ❤️💙

🎨 Keep creating, Little Warriors!

Remembering, Honoring & Thanking Our Heroes

Today at Callahan Elementary, our Little Warriors took time to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to recognize the heroes who stepped up with courage, compassion, and selflessness.

Our school community shared a special moment of silence as we reflected on those who lost their lives and the many individuals who demonstrated extraordinary bravery during and after that day.

❤️ Every classroom participated in age-appropriate activities to help students learn, reflect, and honor the significance of September 11th. Students created American flag crafts, learned about heroes and acts of courage, and found meaningful ways to express their gratitude for those who serve our communities.

Our first grade Little Warriors took their appreciation a step further by writing heartfelt thank-you notes to our local firefighters. Their notes were delivered to our local fire station as a small but meaningful gesture of gratitude for the heroes who continue to serve and protect our community. 🚒❤️

We are so proud of our Little Warriors for learning that remembering history also means recognizing the courage, service, and kindness that continue to make a difference in our community.

We remember. We honor. We are grateful.

📚✨ Learning doesn’t always have to happen at our desks! ✨📚

Our warriors are learning through collaboration, movement, and teamwork! 💪🧠

➗ During whole-group math, students work together to solve problems, compare answers, find mistakes, and check their work for accuracy. We love seeing them explain their thinking and learn from one another!

🔤 During phonics, students get to choose their own “phonics spot” around the room to complete their work. This gives them a little movement, choice, and the opportunity to learn in a space that works best for them!

We’re building independent, confident, and collaborative learners—one problem, one sound, and one phonics spot at a time!
