🏁 Ready, Set, MULTIPLY! ✖️💙💛 Our 3rd graders put their multiplication skills to the test as two teams raced to complete a multiplication wheel! 🏆 A little friendly competition made practicing multiplication facts fun and exciting while building math fluency, speed, accuracy, and teamwork! 🎨👻 Spooky Creativity in the ELH Art Room! 🖤🎃 Our talented Pirates put a spooky twist on their art lesson this week! Inspired by the whimsical and eerie style of Tim Burton, students explored the artistic techniques of value and shading to bring their creepy creations to life! 🕸️✏️ Through the use of light and dark tones, students learned how shading creates depth, dimension, and mood in their artwork. Ahoy, Pirate families! Join us October 26–30 as we celebrate “Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free!” Each day features a fun dress-up theme to remind our students to make healthy, drug-free choices. Check out the flyer for each day’s theme, and help your Pirate participate!

📚👑 Once Upon a Time… Our Top AR Readers Were Celebrated! 👑📚 Every great story deserves a celebration, and our top Accelerated Reader (AR) students certainly earned theirs! 💙💛 Our top AR readers from each grade level were honored with a special luncheon alongside Ms. Hodges, our Media Specialist, and school administration. 💙💛 Learning Empathy Through Experience at ELH! 💛💙 In honor of Disability Awareness Month, our Pirates have been learning about the importance of respecting, including, and supporting individuals with disabilities! 🏴‍☠️ After meaningful discussions about empathy and inclusion, Coach Scott and Coach Taylor took learning beyond the PE classroom with hands-on activities designed to help students better understand some of the challenges individuals with disabilities may encounter. From navigating a wheelchair to completing activities with limited vision or hearing, students explored how different abilities, adaptations, and support can impact everyday experiences. 💙 The biggest lesson? We may not always understand the challenges someone else faces, but we can always choose to show kindness, patience, respect, and inclusion! At ELH, we’re building more than strong bodies—we’re building compassionate hearts! 💛

🍁🍂 FALLing into Appreciation at ELH! 🍂🍁 A little fall fun and a whole lot of appreciation! 🧡💛 Our ELH staff enjoyed a delicious fall-themed luncheon to celebrate the arrival of cooler weather and the amazing team that makes our school so special! We’re proud to have our students’ artwork on display at the NEFL Fair! Stop by and see the creativity of our talented young artists while you are there. 🎨✨

📚 Last week in Science Lab, our Little Pirates explored Disability History and Awareness through hands-on learning!

Students explored familiar books in braille, feeling the raised dots used to read by touch. They also used a braille alphabet model to create their own names in braille!

These activities helped students learn about different ways people access written language while building awareness, understanding, and respect for others. 💙💛
