No. This is not a new tax. It is a renewal of the existing one-mill operating millage that Nassau County property owners are already paying. A “YES” vote would continue the existing one-mill operating millage for four years without increasing the millage rate.

The Millage Referendum is a ballot renewal that allows local voters to invest directly in the daily operations of Nassau County schools. Because basic funding from the state legislature is inadequate to cover standard operating expenses, local school districts face severe budget constraints. Renewing this existing voter-approved millage fills these critical financial gaps. By securing these local funds, we protect our classrooms from budget shortfalls, allowing the district to keep the focus entirely on student success, providing competitive teacher and staff pay, continuing to improve safety, art teachers in every elementary school, and supporting athletics district-wide.

Be in school. Be on time. All day. Every day.
Missing just 2 days each month can add up to about 10% of the school year. Help your child make every school day count by building strong attendance habits all year long.

When students are in class, on time and ready to learn, they have more opportunities to build skills, connect with teachers and classmates, and stay on track for success.

🌙✨ Learning the Phases of the Moon… with Oreos! 🍪 Our 4th graders are learning about how objects in space impact life here on Earth, and today’s hands-on lesson was all about the phases of the Moon! 🌎🌙 Our Little Pirates learned that we can observe how the Moon’s shape appears to change over the course of about a month as it moves through its different phases. Then, they took their learning one step further and created the phases of the Moon using Oreos! 🌑🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘 And, of course, the best part… they got to eat their lesson! 😅🍪 Learning is definitely sweeter when Oreos are involved! 💫
