Thank you to the businesses that came out and participated in the HMSHS Career Fair. Junior and Seniors had the opportunity to introduce themselves to employers and get information on a variety of careers including law enforcement, military, medical, education, as well as a variety of trades. Mr. Conner’s Biology students are taking their learning to the next level! 🧪🔬 After recently completing their frog dissection, students are now diving deeper through a hands-on pig dissection.
These engaging lab experiences directly support our state science standards, giving students the opportunity to explore organ systems, compare structures, and truly understand how form and function work together in living organisms. By connecting classroom instruction to real-world application, students are strengthening critical thinking and analytical skills that are essential for mastery.
We are proud of the focus and dedication our students are showing as they prepare for the upcoming Biology EOC on May 11th. Opportunities like these help build the confidence and high level of performance we expect to see!

Make plans to wear purple on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, as we continue our celebration of the Month of the Military Family.
Mr. West’s 6th Grade World History classes have been hard at work wrapping up their unit on China, Korea, and Japan—and what a creative finish it’s been!
To bring their learning to life, students took on a hands-on challenge inspired by the Great Wall. Each student designed and built their own box, which was then assembled with others to form a collaborative “mini Great Wall.” With only minimal materials provided, students were encouraged to think creatively and gather additional resources to enhance their designs.
This project wasn’t just about building—it was about understanding. Through the activity, students explored a key concept in history: civilizations flourish or struggle based on their access to resources, and trade plays a crucial role in obtaining what they need to thrive. By experiencing limitations firsthand, students gained a deeper appreciation for how geography, resource availability, and innovation shaped ancient societies.
Great work to all of our young historians for their creativity, teamwork, and thoughtful connections to the past!

Through focused instruction and meaningful practice, students are learning how to graph exponential functions from tables, equations, and written descriptions, while identifying important key features. They are also building a deeper understanding by classifying functions as exponential growth or decay.
Students began with their weekly bell ringer to reinforce prior knowledge, followed by interactive notes on “Key Features of Exponential Functions,” which they added to their math notebooks as a resource for continued learning.
With active engagement, hands-on note-taking, and strong mathematical discourse, students are developing the skills and confidence they need to succeed. This intentional instruction is preparing them for success on the BEST Algebra test coming up on May 8, 2026—we know they are going to do an amazing job! 💪📊
