🧪🔍 Science in Action with Ms. Randall’s 7th Graders! 🔍🧪

Today, our 7th grade scientists put their engineering and communication skills to the test in a hands-on challenge that was both brainy and fun! 💡

Students built unique LEGO structures and then wrote detailed procedures explaining how to recreate them. The twist? They swapped instructions with another group and had to rebuild only using the written steps! 🧱✍️

This creative activity helped students see just how important clear, replicable procedures are in science experiments. It was a perfect blend of teamwork, critical thinking, and a whole lot of LEGO magic! 🧠✨

Swipe through the pics to see our future scientists in action! 📸👩‍🔬👨‍🔬

📣 Important Reminder for Our Hornet Families 🐝

To help ensure a safe and smooth dismissal for all students, we’d like to remind everyone of our early checkout times:

🕒 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – Last checkout is before 3:00 PM
🕑 Early Release Wednesdays – Last checkout is before 2:00 PM

With over 1,000 students heading home each day, the final stretch of the school day is a critical time for our front office team. 🎨📚 Big Hornet Shoutout! 🐝

Okay y’all… this is so cool we had to share! Two of our very own superstars—Ms. Perry (Art) and Ms. Miles (Journalism)—just got featured in Fresh Paint, the statewide magazine from the Florida Art Education Association! 🙌

Their collaborative project, Resiliency: Art & Literature, is a beautiful blend of student artwork and writing that truly shows off the heart, talent, and creativity of our kids. It’s not just a book—it’s a celebration of what happens when teachers go all in and students rise to the occasion.

We see Ms. Perry and Ms. Miles going above and beyond every single day, and now the entire state gets a glimpse of the magic they help create here in Nassau County. 💛🖌️📖

Take a minute to check it out and show them some love! 💬👏

📚 Important Testing Information for Hornet Families! 🐝

As we begin our statewide assessments, please take a moment to review these key reminders to help your student succeed and stay in compliance with Florida testing policies:

✅ No Sharing Test Content
Students may NOT discuss or share any test items or passages after testing — including via text, email, or social media. While they can talk about their experience with family, test content must remain confidential.

✅ Work Independently
Cheating or sharing answers will result in test invalidation. Encourage your student to do their best and protect their work.

✅ Accommodations Available
If your child has an IEP, 504 Plan, or is an ELL, please contact the school if you have any questions or concerns regarding their testing accommodations.

✅ Testing Irregularities
If an issue arises during testing, students may be asked to provide a statement to help clarify the situation.

✅ Extra Time Policy
Students actively working at the end of the session will be given extra time. However, those not actively engaged will be dismissed per state guidelines.

🚨 Important Health & Safety Message for YMS Families 🚨

Today, students at Yulee Middle School will be coming home with an important fact sheet about the dangers of opioids and fentanyl—two substances that pose serious risks to youth across the country.

📘 The fact sheet includes:

What fentanyl is and why it’s so dangerous—even in small amounts.
The risks of opioid misuse, including common prescription drugs.
How mixing substances like opioids and alcohol can lead to life-threatening consequences.
We encourage all families to take a few minutes tonight to review this information together. These conversations matter. Awareness and education are key to helping our students make smart, safe choices.

💬 Talk with your children. Ask questions. Share concerns.
Together, we can protect and empower our students.

Thank you for being active partners in keeping our Hornet community safe and informed.
