🌟 THANK YOU, YULEE! 🌟

A couple weeks ago, we had an unforgettable night here. Our first STEAM event was a huge success, and it wouldn’t have been possible without every single person who showed up, helped set up and break down, interacted, danced, and participated. You made this event truly special!

A big shout-out to Dr. Burns, our Superintendent, for stopping by to cheer us on—it meant so much to have your support!

As the sun set, looking around campus at families learning together and little kids playing in the courtyard... it reminded us how lucky we are to live in such a community-driven place. One family who just moved from Alaska told us these kinds of events aren’t “normal” where they’re from—and that we should be proud of what we’ve built here. Guess what? We ARE proud!

💛💚 Thank you to everyone who made this possible—especially Ms. Miles-Vranish, Ms. King and Ms. DeMaio!

And to all our amazing exhibitors who brought STEAM to life:

🌞 Learning Under the Sun! 🌞

Mrs. Wallace’s class took advantage of the beautiful weather and moved their learning outdoors! Students worked in groups to explore Ancient Egyptian inventions we still use today—like bowling, toothpaste, and wigs.

After reading, they discussed their findings and answered guiding questions together. This activity wasn’t just about history—it was also a great way to practice time management and collaboration skills.

📚 Hands-on learning + fresh air = an amazing day at YMS!

📚 Teacher Spotlight: Ms. Alvare!

We have so many teachers at YMS who go above and beyond to build positive connections with students. In this photo, you’ll see Ms. Alvare giving up her few minutes of peace to play a game of Scrabble with her students during her lunch break. This is just one of the many ways she squeezes in a little extra time learning while building those positive relationships that make lifelong impacts.

We are so lucky to have amazing teachers like her on our YMS team! 💛
Drop a comment and let Ms. Alvare know how much she is loved!
