🎉📚 Celebrating Creativity & Resilience at Yulee Middle School! 🎨✨

Last night, we had an incredible time at our “Art and Literature Resiliency Book” Publishing Party, and we’re excited to share some highlights with our community!
At YMS, we believe in building strong students both academically and emotionally. Florida’s resiliency standards help teach essential life skills like character development, perseverance, and coping strategies—skills our students will carry with them for life.

To bring these lessons to life, we created a schoolwide art and literature contest, allowing our talented students to express themes of resilience through original creative work.
💡 This year’s anthology, our largest ever, was published in partnership with Story & Song Bookstore Bistro in Fernandina Beach, and features submissions from students in grades 6–8 inspired by:

• Perseverance
• Empathy
• Responsibility
• Leadership
• Gratitude
• Personal Growth

👏 Congratulations to our 2026 Winners:

🎨 Art
🥇 Nyla Jennings — “Soprano Saxophone”
🥈 Nyla Jennings — “Digital Character Artwork”
🥉 Shawna Zhang — “Digital Portrait”

✍️ Literature
🥇 Khloe Arnold — “When the Light Waned”
🥈 Aubrey Shiver — “Be Resilient”
🥉 Lillian Dailey — “My Sanity”

This program, made possible by a Nassau Education Foundation grant, is now in its third year and continues to grow in both participation and impact. We are so proud of our students for using their voices and creativity to share powerful messages of resilience. 💛

🙏 A special thank you to those who helped make this possible:
• Mrs. Deaver, ELA Teacher
• Dr. Middleton, Principal
• Mrs. Liz Hinchliffe, Volunteer
• Advisors: Ms. Michelle Perry, Mrs. Andrea Miles Vranish, Mrs. Ashley DeMaio Rice
• Mr. Case, for writing the introduction

📸 Check out some of the amazing moments from the night below!

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

💚🐝 Two Cheers for Our Custodians & Students! 🐝💚

At YMS, we believe in responsibility, ownership, and taking pride in our space, and our students continue to rise to that challenge every single day!

From wiping down their tables after lunch to stepping up without being asked, taking out trash, picking up items off the floor, and helping keep our campus clean, our students are doing more than meeting expectations… they’re pole vaulting over them with their kindness and work ethic!

To our custodial team, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure our school runs smoothly each and every day. We truly could not do it without you!

A special shoutout to Ms. Angela, who formed such a strong connection with one class this year that she surprised them with gift cards as a heartfelt thank you for their efforts. What an incredible example of the relationships that make YMS so special!

💚🐝 It’s More Than Just the Classroom 🐝💚

At YMS, our teachers go above and beyond every single day, not just during instruction, but in the moments that truly matter. Whether it’s during lunch, detention, or in the hallways... our staff takes the time to connect with students, build relationships, and show they care.

Those small moments, conversations, encouragement, and consistency, create a foundation of trust that carries over into the classroom and drives the amazing success we see every day.

We are incredibly proud of our teachers for creating a culture where students feel supported, valued, and ready to learn. 💙
