Hey Hornet families! Soccer and basketball tryouts are right around the corner, and we want every student to have the chance to participate safely and confidently.
To ensure your child is cleared for tryouts, please make sure the 4 required documents are completed and uploaded:
1️⃣ FHSAA Sports Physical (Page 4 only – must be current)
2️⃣ Consent & Release Form (Notarized)
3️⃣ Medical Authorization Form (Notarized)
4️⃣ Proof of Insurance (Notarized – insurance card alone won’t work)
We don’t want to turn anyone away due to missing paperwork, so let’s get everything in early and make this season amazing! 💪

Some educators leave a mark so deep, their legacy becomes part of the heartbeat of a school. Ms. Kennedy is one of those rare gems—and we are beyond lucky to have her back at YMS!
With 25 years in education, Ms. Kennedy brings a wealth of experience and a heart full of compassion. From teaching 2nd and 4th grade, serving as a college adjunct, and spending 8 years as a school counselor, her journey has been nothing short of inspiring.
She’s the kind of teacher who left YMS… and just couldn’t stay away. That says everything about her love for this community—and our love for her.
Whether she’s walking the beach with her family, enjoying a holiday cruise, or savoring mint chocolate chip ice cream (or anything chocolate + caramel!), Ms. Kennedy radiates warmth and kindness in everything she does.
Her favorite quote says it all:
“I want to be that teacher that when my students look back, they feel love in their hearts, have a smile on their face and can truly say they knew that I cared about them.”

There’s something truly special about a Friday night in our community.
The roar of the crowd.
The rhythm of the band—led by the living legend himself, Mr. Shepard.
The cheerleaders lighting up the sidelines with energy and pride.
Our football team giving it their all under the lights.
Mr. Softee truck handing out ice cream cones.
And the real MVPs? The volunteers serving up smiles and snacks from the concession stand! 🙌
It’s more than just a game—it’s a celebration of everything that makes our school and town amazing.
Parents cheering, kids playing in the dirt, friends reconnecting, and neighbors coming together to support something bigger than themselves.
