    Definition:

    Digital Citizenship is the safe and responsible use of technology to learn, create, and participate in digital technologies.

    Students will use digital citizenship skills to learn, create, and interact with others responsibly online and in person.

    Common Sense Media  Common Sense Media's Core Topics
    Common Sense Media is dedicated to helping kids thrive in a world of media and technology. Nassau County School District uses its Digital Citizenship curriculum to promote the safe and positive use of digital technologies. Information is also available for parents is available on a variety of topics, including privacy & Internet safety, cyberbullying, social media, and learning with technology.

    NetSmartz
    NetSmartz is an educational program of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Resources are available for parents & guardians, educators, law enforcement, teens, and younger children. For parents, there are tips and discussion starters for various topics, including cell phones, sexting, cyber bullying, social networking, and inappropriate content.

    Online Safety for Children and Teens 
    This collection of resources provides parents with statistics and tools to help keep children and teens safe while using the Internet.  Additionally, there are resources for parents to help their children become responsible digital citizens.
